About Us and Aussies
We operate a small Aussie kennel on our fenced acreage about 20 minutes northeast of Edmonton, near Gibbons.

We raise large mini and small standard Australian Shepherds, CKC or ASDR registered and genetic health tested.
Before the Australian Shepherd breed standard was written with a preference to Aussies 18+ inches at the withers, dogs under 18” were common, as photos from the 50’s to 70’s showed.  A few breeders back in the 60’s selected dogs they bred for a smaller Aussie, we love these old genetics!  So true to the breed,  good temperament, sound mind and body.
Our CKC girls and CH HHC Get R Done (Larry)  have pedigrees with these select genetics, and do produce progeny in a range of sizes from 16 to 20 inches, a  larger mini and standards.  Pedigrees boasting legendary breeders:   Valhalla, Las Rocosa, Twin Oaks, Howards, Fairoaks…
Our breeding program is based on temperament, conformation and health. Finding a loving forever home for our puppies is our priority,  we enjoy getting to know prospective families, through emails and chats and visits. Puppies are raised in our home until the weaning process begins, so while we watch them develop they are socialized to all the sights and sounds they will encounter in your home.

In our breeding program we do  not  inbreed, nor double up on genetic faults. Puppies produced from parents with few common ancestors are healthier from the genetic aspect.

We have 3 big exercise yards where our dogs spend most of the day, with access to a heated facility attached to the dog runs. Every week each dog gets to be our house dog, special treats and grooming, lots of snuggles.
At 5-6 weeks old Mom and babes are moved out of our guest room to our heated facility.  Pups have an open crate to sleep in, and  their own pen with access to a 4'x8' outside run via a puppy door. Every day we go for walks together. They learn to navigate stairs, investigate all the wonders of nature, go for rides and enjoy the big yards.  Puppies are socialized early with kids, dogs, strangers and lots of noise and activities around the yard.

To help you protect your new puppy, we have puppies weaned and on kibble by 6 weeks, then vaccinate at 7-8 weeks with 4way. In doing so maternal antibodies are less likely to interfere with the effectiveness of the vaccine (particularly Parvo), and an 8-9 weeks old puppy has built up some immunity to disease when you take him/her home.
At 7 weeks we also take pups to Skid's Run in Edmonton for Voldhard temperament testing, wanting a good match, so both the needs of the puppy and new family are met. Breeding pups are also conformation tested there. Pups are fed raw and kibble by 8 weeks old, this helps transition him/her to your food preference.
We do not dock tails.  Puppies are dewormed at 2,4 weeks with Strongid T,  6 and 8 weeks with a 3 day treatment of Panacur (which is also effective at preventing giardia ).

We provide you with a schedule for deworming and vaccinations for you to review with  your vet.
It is very important for the future health of your new puppy he/she is dewormed and given all (3) the required boosters. Following the one year booster, we suggest vaccination every 3 - 5  years…of course always ask your Vet for advice regarding your pups health.
Also we microchip and Vet check (with certificate) at 8 weeks. We guarantee the puppies will be in excellent health when picked up.
A  30 day Pet Insurance Certificate for your pup, from Trupanion, is provided and at your option to use.

All sires and dams are tested for these Aussie inherited genetic health issues with results posted on our website:
Con-Deg, CEA, CMR1, DM, HC, MDR1, PRA-prcd .
We health guarantee our pups for these hereditary diseases (not age nor injury related).  For this reason we do not line breed, inbreed or double up on genetic faults. We stay true to the breed standards, selecting breeding stock with good conformation, no prick ears and good bites, all with great dispositions.
The importance of this testing to you is that you can be confident that your much loved pet will not develop any of these genetic diseases, due to our careful management and good breeding practices. To us it’s our duty to raise healthy puppies!

Australian Shepherds … a True Friend For Life
The Australian Shepherd makes a good family dog, loyal and loving. But they may not be a fit for every family. They need  exercise and mental stimulation every day!.  Aussies enjoy hiking, jogging, camping, playing games, companionship and problem solving.
Their water-resistant coat make Australian Shepherds very well-suited to the outdoors in all types of weather, those coats keep them cooler in the hot summer too. Aussies shed their coat twice a year. The working coat is shorter and easy care; the show coat is longer and flashy.  Some double coats, short or long, require extra grooming to de-shed.
All Aussies have energy, lots of energy, but not all Aussies are high drive (herding/working dogs, agility competitors). This is why we temperament test, finding a pup that is the right fit for your family lifestyle.   Aussies with  a lower drive level are suitable for small children, older couples and may be a service dog prospect. They enjoy all the activities Aussies are known for but do not need a job.  Australian Shepherds that have the herding instinct need to work and play a lot, excelling in obedience training and agility, and yet are still happy to cuddle up and watch a good movie with you.  Ideally, Aussies should have a fenced yard to enjoy.
Aussies can be wary of strangers so are good watch dogs (not guard dog), a well socialized Aussie seldom barks except as a warning.
Though Aussies now come in all sizes, a small Aussie is still an Aussie, with the same need for lots of exercise and mental stimulation.  If you don't keep the Australian Shepherd's mind and body busy he/she will devise things to do!
